We had a great Easter, but definitely with a local weather flair.Last night we got our eggs all colored and ready for Easter day.
When we woke up around 6:30 this morning, it was dark, cold and pouring buckets, but we don't let that sort of thing change our plans too much around here.
The Easter bunny loaded the kids up this morning at home, and kid 1.0 checked out her loot over hot cross buns at breakfast.
At church, several individuals took it upon themselves to make sure the girls weren't disappointed with no planned egg hunt, so they each got a few small gifts, which was really sweet. Then we headed off to the party at our friend's house. Her invitation had said that the egg hunt would be outdoors, rain or shine—and she really meant it. It was pouring as we drove down there, and it did not let up. We started the egg hunt at about 1:30, with all the kids in their rain coats and little wellies, and the
grown-ups wondering how this was going to go. I think to make it easier on all of us, the "bunny" had simply broadcast the eggs liberally on the lawn, rather than take the time to craftily hide them.Kid 1.0 filled her basket quickly, and baby 2.0, once shown the drill, seemed to enjoy picking eggs up for her little basket as well. All the kids did just fine in the rain, it was the grown-ups that couldn't get it over fast enough!
If you look at the wide shot, with the cars, you can see how hard it was raining!
Of course, at about 4 PM, the clouds broke and the sun came out, although the wind started whipping up to about 25 MPH.
We had a great time though, and kid 1.0 will be riding the sugar high for weeks!
